Bedding A Big Boy
Tonight, we converted Greyson's crib into a toddler bed. It's laughable how long it's taken us to do this considering our son weighs 35 pounds. The short answer is that in spite of his size, he's never tried to climb out, not once. The only reason we're doing it now is because we're tired of breaking our backs hauling him back and forth over his crib rail. At first he was really upset. He walked into the room after Roque had already taken the front down, and he started getting upset saying, "No! No! Put it back!" However, once we installed the rail guard, and he realized he could climb in and out of bed on his own, he was ecstatic. He just kept climbing up and down, over and over, throwing Mama and Baby Wooly all over the room and laughing out loud. I've realized that Greyson is exactly like his father. He is completely resistant to any new idea, but once you convince him, and he adjusts, and then he loves it. It's not that I'm a champion for change myself, but I pretty much know from the beginning if I'll love a change or not. Roque's resistant to anything new (other than restaurants), at first, but after that, he adjusts faster than I do.One of our greatest fears in moving him to toddler bed, is that he'll bug us in the mornings. My favorite thing about Greyson is that when he wakes up every day, he doesn't call for us or cry. He just hangs out in his crib until we get him. My guess (we never know for sure, because he doesn't make a peep) is that he wakes up at about 7-730am, and sometimes we can hear him singing softly, but he never hollers for us. He will happily entertain himself quietly until we go in, sometimes as late as 815am. He does the same thing during naps, and it's something I treasure about him. It is unknown whether this newfound nighttime freedom will change that. Here's to hoping.

you know what's funny? everytime Ollie sees a big box come through our front door, she assumes it's a new "big girl bed" for her and she's thoroughly disappointed when it's just a desk or something.
