Singapore (2)

Greyson is in love with Singapore. It is a Wonderland of all of his favorite things. There are escalators and elevators everywhere. That coupled with an ever-willing Gong Gong to chaperone...
score. Fountains––they're everywhere. It seems like every establishment, be it a mall, a condo complex or a store has one. My dad said it's probably because of how much people here believe in "feng shui". On top of that, there are the water fountain play areas. The weather here allows us to let Greyson run around and get completely soaked without fear of a cold. That has been a huge hit. The icing on the cake has been the MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) train. My parents, who only drive, bought MRT passes, just so they could take him to ride the train. They have a trampoline in the house, there's a koi pond downstairs where Greyson feeds the fish, it's all too good to be true. Last but not least, his favorite people, Ah Ma and Gong Gong are here. Every morning, without fail, when he wakes up, his first words are, "See, Ah Ma and Gong Gong?"

Swimming has been a daily request. Gong Gong, usually so terrified of cold, braved the chilly waters every day to take his grandson swimming. My parents' pool never really heats up because it's shaded, so the water is usually too cold for comfort, but it doesn't seem to faze Greyson. He has made leaps and bounds in this area. Gong Gong bought him new floaties and they are perfect. He swims independently, and the water level reaches just under his nose, which has taught him to spit the water out, and learn to deal with dipping underwater from time to time. He absolutely loves it. He laughs out loud when he's swimming, it's so cute.

Our flight here was exhausting, but better than I expected in a sense that Greyson was completely content sitting in his seat. I thought being cooped up would drive him nuts, but we only had to walk him up and down the aisle a couple of times. We used 10% of the 39 activities I packed for him to do on the plane (approximately one per half hour), and by the end of the trip, we still had 5 hours left on the iPod and 4 hours on our dvd player. However, as I expected, my particular sleeper did not sleep very much. He missed his nap on the plane, fell asleep at 9pm and was woken up by meal service at 1am. He was completely delirious when we landed in Hong Kong and yet, he was energetic enough to pull his Trunki through the airport. I was so tired, my face was aching. All that being said, it is completely worth is seeing how happy he is here. He didn't need any warm up time, he just dove right in and got happy.

One of our favorite mornings. My mom packed a breakfast basket and we spent the morning by the pool. Greyson pulled his Trunki around while we ate "dao huey" and fruit. One thing I loved about the warm weather was how easy it was to get Greyson ready to go out. This particular morning, we just whisked him out of bed, put on his Crocs and went downstairs.

My dad bought Greyson this hilarious balloon pet, and Greyson absolutely loved it. He'd run through the house in his "kitty voice", squealing and cooing at it. $15.00 well spent, Pa.
