Clean Freak

Greyson is a clean freak. The kid absolutely detests being dirty, wet or messy in any way. It's getting out of control. He wears a Baby Bjorn bib when he eats, and now when food gets on it, or when the little "lip" catches a spill, he freaks. "Yellow bib dirty, all gone (done), all gone!" The other day, he got his shoes wet at a playground and we had to leave. He wouldn't keep them on, so I took them off. He wouldn't put them back on, but he wouldn't walk barefoot either. I'd try and put him down on the ground and he'd lift his feet up to his ears to avoid landing. I had no other alternative but to call it a day at the park and carry all 32 lbs of him back to our car, which was not close enough. He hates gets getting his hands dirty when he's eating and always asks to be wiped off. He hates getting sand on his Crocs or in his shoes. The other day he was eating a cookie in the car, and before long I hear, "Car seat dirty! Car seat dirty!" It's ridiculous. Roque's been trying to increase his tolerance by letting him "sit" in his mess in increments of time, in hopes of promoting the normalization of dirt. At breakfast he taught Greyson how to say "No big deal" and later that day during another incident, Roque reiterated, "No big deal, Grey." Greyson looked thoughtful for a moment, then he said, "Yellow bib dirty, no big deal."
